2. That the General Committee be asked, if possible, to arrange the times of their Meetings so that the Sub-Committees may have an opportunity of meeting prior to the General Committee. 3. The Committee recommend that a grant of £ 5 be made towards Mr. Iltyd Gardner's excavation of The Battle Tump," Abergavenny. 4. The Committee ask for further information and reference with regard to the excavation of Castell Taliorum," Llanhilleth, for which an application for a grant has been made by Mr. Trevor Lewis, an Aberystwyth student, and suggest a grant of £ 15. 5. The Committee beg to report that Mrs. Gough, the owner, has generously granted permission for the excavation of the Roman fort at Caerhun, and that Dr. Wheeler has promised to undertake the work after the completion of the Gaer (Brecon). An Excavation Committee will in due course issue an Appeal for funds which this Committee strongly recommends to the consideration of the Associa- tion. Mr. Gardner moved the adoption of the Report. Mr. J. C. Davies (Director of Education for Denbighshire), in seconding, said he felt that they should appeal more directly to the Schools for financial support for the work. He did not suggest they should ask the L.E.A. for funds, as that authority had quite enough to do, but if the Schools were brought into closer touch with the work he was sure that the funds would be augmented. If the children could see the excavations at the Gaer, their visit would be of the greatest educational value. Not only would the children be interested, but their knowledge of history would be greatly increased. He moved that efforts be made to create a greater interest in the work of excavation by a direct appeal to the Schools. Mr. Gardner said that he entirely agreed with Mr. Davies, as when he was at Dinorben he had frequent visits from the pupils in the local Schools, and he was bound to say they were the most enthusiastic of his visitors. Five years after the excavations he had further evidence of that interest by being asked certain questions by those very pupils. The Rev. Thomas Roberts, R.N., added that during the Ysgeifiog excavations the children of the local National Schools attended and evinced the greatest interest in the work. The report was adopted, and the grants of £ 5 to The Battle Tump," and £ 15 to Castell Taliorum were agreed to. Col. Sir Joseph Bradney was appointed the representative of the Association on the Castell Taliorum Excavation Committee. General Sandbach proposed, and it was unanimously resolved, that the following officers be elected :-Chairman, Major Chas. E. Breese Treasurer, Mr. T. E. Morris General Secretaries, Canon C. F. Roberts and Mr. Percy J. Williams Auditors, Messrs. J. E.
