SUNDAY SCHOOLS AVERAGE ATTENDANCE, APRIL, April Welsh Adults Welsh Infants no 61 English 1899. Total 281 We congratulate the officers of the Sunday Schools upon the fact that this is the highest total average attained this year, but we hope that it will go on increasing month by month. No Sunday School was held on Easter Sunday, and upon the following Sunday the Welsh Schools were closed owing to the painting, etc., of the two buildings wherein they are usually held. This fact is, of course, taken into consideration in estimating the average attendance. The Welsh average is the highest for several months past. C. E. T. S. It will not now be news to Members of the English and Welsh congregations that a branch of the above has been established in connection with St. Mary's Church. A meeting was held on Wednesday evening, April 12th, under the presidency of the Vicar, who read the opening office. The Rev. J. P. Lewis, Vicar of Conway, delivered an interesting and temperate address on the work of the Society. He deprecated bigotry on the part of total abstainers and exhorted all to work side by side upon the broad platform which the Society upheld. One of the objects of such Societies was to enable the laity to share the work with the clergy. Nothing, in his estimation, showed such inconsiderateness on the part of laymen as to allow their Vicar and Curate to ' serve tables ' and do all the collecting for the various funds (hear, hear ! Ed.) But as members of this Society within the Divine Society of the Church they had an opportunity of doing their duty, and he hoped this would be an incentive to them to take their share of all branches of work connected with the Church. Subsequently the following interesting programme was proceeded with: Song, 'Dim ond deilen,' Miss Leah Jones; Song, 'Daddy,' Mrs. James Jones; Song, 'Queen of the Earth,' Mr. J. Hughes Roberts ; Recitation, ' Mr. Bray,' Miss Fanny Owen ; Song, ' On the Banks of Allan Water,' Miss Bessie Thomas; Recitation, ' Gwraig y Meddwyn,' Miss Jennie Williams; Song, ' The Young Royalist,' Mr. J. Hughes Roberts ; Song, ' The Children's Home,' Mrs. James Jones. The Meeting concluded with a Hymn and the Blessing. The Accompanists were Mr. Rowlands, Deputy Organist and the Rev. J. James Jones. During the course of the meeting several new members were enrolled and the Secretary annonuced that the number on the register was upwards of 80. Any information with reference to this branch may be obtained of the Secretary, Mr. Roberts, Oaklands, who will be glad to receive the names of those who desire to be enrolled.
