With this comprehensive expression of our wishes, we commence the opening number of the Magazine for the year of our Lord Eighteen-hundred and Ninety-nine. 1898 AT ST. MARY'S We purpose giving, in this article, a brief review of the work done in connection with St. Mary's Church during the year 1898. It may perhaps be stated that all, or at any rate, the majority of the subscribers to this Parish Magazine are themselves connected with the Church'and consequently are already aware of most events which have happened there during the past year. This is, to a certain extent, true, but it is always well for us, and especially at the commencement of the new year, to glance back at the past, and that not in any boasting spirit but for our guidance in the future. A sketch of the work done will aid us to perceive what still remains to be done. Moreover we look upon the Magazine not only as con¬ taining matter interesting and instructive to the present members of the Church, but as a collection of records which will be referred to and eagerly scanned by succeeding generations.
