Owing to the uncertainty of the weather among other reasons, it was decided not to go very far afield, and by the kind¬ ness of Mr. & Mrs. Holmes, the grounds of Penrallt Hall were thrown open to us and provided a most enjoyable place for a picnic. Most fortunately the rain held off and every¬ thing went merrily as the proverbial marriage bell. Some seventy members and friends attended, an excellent tea was provided on the lawn and when that had been thoroughly enjoyed members scattered over the fields and the race course, some indulging in games and others content with enjoying the fresh air —" as good as Aberystwyth " many declared,—and the beautiful view. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr. and Mrs. Holmes, who not only lent the grounds but provided all the milk required and gave every assistance for the boiling of water, etc. The tea was under the capable manage¬ ment of Mrs. D. A. Lewis, Mrs. Annie Hamer and her sister, Mrs. Morgan, assisted by Miss Susie Jones (who with Mrs. Morgan had sold the tickets,) Miss Price, Miss Derry, and others. Mr. Chas. Evans, (Treasurer,) and Mr. J. A. Jones rendered efficient assistance.
