" The Gipsies."—This was the title of a very pretty and tuneful kinderspiel which had been chosen for the annual Easter perform¬ ance, and we heartily congratulate all con¬ cerned on the pronounced success which attended its production. The performance was given on April 14th, at Bethel Hall, before a large and appreciative audience, who were unstinted in their praise of the excel¬ lent way in which everything was done. The space available forbids a lengthy report, and we must content ourselves with saying that the singing, the acting, and the staging were highly creditable. Some of the scenes were very effective, the dresses of the performers adding greatly to their picturesqueness. Much time and labour had been spent in preparing for the performance, and Miss Jones (The Close) deserves a special word of praise for the admirable manner in which she discharged the onerous duties of a train¬ er. She was ably assisted by Miss Lena Davies (the accompanist), while Miss Parker rendered invaluable service with the dancing. A fancy dance was given by the Misses Nellie Webb, Cassie Jones, Evelyn Daviesj, and Daisy Rees, and Miss Doris Holmes contributed a scarf dance.
