flrwpstli Deanery magazine. Vol. III. (N'ew Series). MARCH, 1907. No. 171. LLANIDLOES. Holy Week.—On the Monday. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in Holy Week (March 25- 28) there will he celebration of Holy Communion at 8 a.m., Matins at 11, and Evensong and sermon at 7-30. Goon Friday, March 29th, there will be Litany and Ante Communion at 8. Matins at 10, the Three Hours from 12 to 3, and short service with J. H. Maunders' Cantata " Olivet to Calvary " at 7-30. The Three Hours will be conducted by the Rev. H. J. Riddelsdell, Subwarden at St. (Michael's College. Aberdare, who will also preach on Thursday evening. The Cantata, " Olivet to Calvary," is one of remarkable beauty, and most devotional in tone, and it is hoped we may have a large congregation, both in the evening and the Three Hours. Easter Day.—There will be as usual celebrations at 8, 9, 10 (Welsh) and midday: we earnestly hope that our readers will bear in mind the express rule of the Church that every Communicant shall be present at Communion on this great Festival. A Musical Play—" Squire Goodfellow's Famous Hunt"—will be presented to the public on Wednesday, April 3rd, at the National Schools, by the senior members of the Band of Hope, assisted by a few friends. There ought to be a crowded audience on this occasion. The Church Social on February 8th was most enjoyable,*and though not quite so well attended as the last one, the room was quite full enough for comfort, and the innovation of having dances between the different items of the musical programme, instead of having a programme first and dances afterwards proved quite a success. The next proceeds amounted to £3 5s. 0d., and this as well as the whole evening's entertainment reflected great credit on the ladies who undertook the management. Pressure of matter from outside parishes precludes individual acknow¬ ledgment. The Lent Services have been so far well attended with quite large congregations on nights when we have had strange preachers and a very respectable muster with wel sustained numbers on other nights in the week. The preachers—The Dean, Mr. Smith, of Llanbrynmair, and Mr. Davies, of Dolfor, all gave excellent sermons, and the latter's advice to mothers seemed to us especially good ; it was at once so simple and so practical. The Confirmation announced for March 17th will not take place, as the Bisbop is holding confirmation at Caersws and Ban- hadlog. and is also expected to hold one in the summer at Llangurig. We regret to record the unexpected death of Mr. J. Baxter Owen of Glandulas who passed peacefully away on Tuesday, February 20th. Though living in the parish of Llan¬ gurig, he was so much nearer Llanidloes, and had so many more ties here, that we considered him one of " our people " and he was always a kind supporter of the National Schools, and other good causes. The funeral took place at Llangurig on March 1st. MARRIAGE. February 18th.—Brinley Richards and Eliza¬ beth Morgan. BAPTISMS. February 16th.—Margaret Dorothy Cheese- man. February 24th.—Ann Jane Kirwood.
