The Vicar of Llandinam gave an excellent address to the members of the Mothers' Union after service on Wednesday, November 28th. The Rev. |R. f. Jones, Secretary of the Diocesan Church Defence and Church In¬ struction League, visited the parish on Wednesday November 21st, and addressed a meeting of Church people at the National School, when it was decided to form a branch in Llanidloes, and a considerable number of members were enrolled. A second meeting was held on December 5th. when in spite of the most atrocious weather, there was a good attendance and many more joined, and a general Committee was appointed. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 19th, when the Vicar will give an address. New members may join at any meeting. A highly successful ' Social ' was held on Friday, Nov. 30, when about 150 were present. After a miscellaneous programme dancing and games proceeded and the party broke up at 11-30. The arrangements were in the capable hands of Messrs. J. Davies, R. J. Jerman, A. Roberts, C. Owen, and T. Phil¬ lips. Mrs. Jones, Vicarage, took care of the refreshments, and was assisted by Mrs. R. O. Jones. Mrs. C. Brown, Miss Nellie Rogers and Miss Mary Jenkins. Miss Carter and Mrs. Lewis, Eithinog, kindly sent cake and milk respectively. About £4 was realised which will go towards new ropes for the bells. The programme was as follows:— Piano solo, Miss Webb; Songs by Miss Cris. Kerr, Miss Lily Roberts, Messrs. O. George, R. J. Jerman and Albert Roberts. " School Children all the World over," in which the following took part:—Maggie Barton, Artie Moyle (Nigger), Bertie Roberts (Chinaman), Felicia Higgs (Jap), who were the soloists; George Derry (interlocutor), Mary Winnie Rowlands, Ella Phillips, Edith Davies and Llew. Richards. The total estimate for rehanging the bells and making stays, etc., so that they may be properly rung is £86. Until we know where we are with the Schools and get the Curate's Fund on a securer basis, we cannot start on the task of collecting so big a sum, but we may begin to lay by small sums towards it. To strengthen the Churchwardens' Fund must now be our aim.
