Tea was pro¬ vided for all the members. Mrs. Snow and Mrs. Harding kindly undertook the manage¬ ment of the tea and each p;i. ish contributed cake, which being mostly Lome-made, was much appreciated. The wives of the clergy presided at the different tables and were assisted by willing helpers, too numerous to mention. The Cambrian Railways Company very kindly arranged for a special train from and to Llanidloes and reducrd fares for all. There were 133 present. Two prizes were given by the Branch for the best cake, and Mrs. Lloyd-Verney presented them—first prize, Mrs. B. Owen ; second prize, Miss M. Kinsey, Maesmp«»- f I m^fcA>iii and Miss Elsie, Llwynderw, Llandinam, equal.—The Rev. O. Harding read prayers and introduced Mrs. Thomas, who gave a most appropriate address in English and Welsh, and spoke chiefly on the duty of mothers in the home and to their children.—Mrs. Fanshaw pro¬ posed a vote of thanks to Mrs. Thomas. Mrs. Edwards thanked Mrs. Harding and Mrs. Snow and those who contributed cake. —The Rural Dean sent a telegram of best wishes for a successful meeting.—In spite of the inclemency of the weather all seemed to hare had a pleasant day. Six new members were enrolled. LLANIDLOES. The Church School trip to Aberystwyth is fixed for Monday, August 20th : all particu¬ lars will be found on the bills. Only half- tickets will be given to members of the Sun¬ day School this year, but those over age can obtain a full ticket on payment of 9d. No one will be eligible for a free ticket (or to be accurate—half-ticket) unless he or she has made at least twenty attendances. On Monday, July 9th, there was a good attendance of members of the C.E.T.S. at the National Schools, when an inkstand with a suitable inscription was presented to the Rev. Parker Jones on his leaving Llanidloes. The Vicar spoke in warm terms of com¬ mendation in making the presentation, and several other members, including Messrs. C. Owen, Bowgen, Palmer, C. Rrown, T. Evans, and Evan Rees, voiced the regret of the Society at losing so excellent a Vice- President. Mr. Jones left Llanidloes the ensuing week and commences his duties at Tovvyn on Sun¬ day, August 5th, where he will be followed by the best wishes of his many friends here. The Volunteers turned out in good force for a Church Parade on Sunday, July 8th, and we had a very good service and a fair sermon. We cordially congratulate Mr. E. D. Davies on His appo1ntTfrliew~ae3"Manager-cf- the L. & P. Bank. The Maenol Garden Party took place as announced on Wednesday, July Ilth, and the weather being very favourable proved a complete success. So full accounts appeared at the time that we confine ourselves to the barest enumeration of those chiefly con¬ cerned. The tea was under the joint management of the school teachers ; while the general stall was undertaken by Mrs. Herbert Roberts, Mrs. D. A. Lewis, Miss Griffiths, Commerce House. Miss Parker took good money in the Summer-house, and it was wonderful to see how quickly pennies developed into shillings as Mr. Arthur Webb invited all and sundry to throw balls into a basin where you thought they would stay— but they didn't. Tennis produced good results and the swing under the management of Mr. H. Bunford swelled the takings, nor must the fiower-stall, under the management of Mr. R. M. Davies, be forgotten. We have to thank Mrs. T. Phillips, Miss Lena Davies, Miss Katie Wood, and Miss Lily Roberts, together with Messrs. Chas. Owen, J. Owen (N. & S. W. Bank), and T. Phillips for kindly
