fllriDpstli Deanerp magazine. Vol. II. (New Series). JUNE, 1906. No. 162. GENERAL. We must congratulate the Rector of Pen- strowed on his too long deferred and thoroughly deserved promotion. The pity of it is that it has heen left to the Government to recognize his deserts and that his removal from Penstrowed means that he is lost to the Diocese of Bangor, which is not so well staffed that it can afford to send away one of the ablest of its clergy. Placed in his present parish by the late Bishop with the express object of allowing him time and leisure to assist in what may be fitly termed a National undertaking—the production of a Welsh Hymnal—it was naturally expected that when that was completed, he would be removed to a more important parish. Un¬ fortunately Bishop Lloyd was struck down before this could be done. That Mr. Richards did not neglect the care of his small parish is sufficiently evidenced by the fact that he has a larger proportion of com¬ municants to population than any incumbent in the Diocese, while his services to the Deanery, both in organizing and conducting Choral Festivals and as Secretary to the Chapter, as well as in rendering willing help wherever needed, are too well known to our readers to need insisting on. CHORAL FESTIVAL. The Festival will be held at Llanidloes on Wednesday, July 5th. There will be a celebration of the Holy Communion at 11, with sermon. Evensong at 5-30, with sermon. Rehearsal at 3 p.m. We fear there will be no time to do justice to a new anthem, there being plenty of other varied and interesting work to prepare. We propose repeating the anthem sung last year, " Great is the Lord." The full order of the services will be found in the January Magazine. Rehearsals will be held at— Llanidloes on Wednesday, June 6th, at 7-30. Caersws on Tuesday, June 12th, at 7-30. We hope all choirs from the neighbouring parishes will make an effort to attend at one or other place. LLANIDLOES. Ox Whit-Sunday, June 3rd, there will be celebrations of the Holy Communion at 8, 9, 10 (in Welsh), and mid-day. It is much to be hoped that all Communicants will make an effort to be present and to unite in prayer for a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Church in general and especially on this parish. Our Llanidloes notes last month were hurriedly put together one morning before the writer left to attend an important meeting at Bangor, and on his return he found the pressure of matter was so great that it was impossible to get another line in. This accounts for the omission of any reference to the fact that Miss Lena Davies presided at the organ both on Good Friday evening, when " Penitence, Pardon, and Peace " was sung, and on Easter Day. How well she acquitted herself is known to all who were present, and her playing was the subject of much favourable comment, both on the part of our own congregation and of the visitors
