Artvpstli Deancrp magazine. Vol. II. (New Series). APRIL, 1906. No. 160. LLANIDLOES. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in Holy Week the Rev. R. W. Owen, of Eglwys Oen Duw, will preach, and on Thursday the Rev. J. H. A. Griffiths will give an address on Easter Communion. The services on Good Friday will be— Matins and Sermon at 10; the Three Hours, from 12 to 3; Maunder's cantata, "Peni¬ tence. Pardon, and Peace," with short service and sermon, at 7.30. The preacher through¬ out the day will be the Vicar of Newbridge- on-Wyc. The attendance at daily service during Lent has been small, and the Vicar hopes that Churchpeople will make a special effort during Holy Week. Ox Easter Day there will be, as usual, four celebrations of the Holy Communion-— at 8, 9, 10 (Welsh), and 12 (choral). It is, we hope, unnecessary to add that the definite rule of the Church is that all communicants should partake on Easter Sunday- The collection at all services on Easter Day will be given to the Vicar. There will be a " Church Social" on the Wednesday in Easter week, April 18th (pro¬ ceeds to the Sunday School Fund) ; but the proposed Sale of Work has been postponed till the autumn. The Bishop held a Confirmation on Sun¬ day, April 1st, when the following candidates from this parish were presented :—J. Fred Davies, Herbert Derry, John Dutton, John Evans, Edward Lloyd, Robert Smith, George Steel, Mary Ellen Benbow, Mary Elizabeth Jerman, Eva Jones, Sarah Jones, Elizabeth Ann Rees, and Annie Toy. The Bishop celebrated at mid-day and preached in the evening, and expressed him¬ self as being very much pleased with the services. T^o short anthems were sung— in the morning, Farrant's " Lord, for Thy tender mercies sake," and in the evening, Attwood's " Turn Thy face from my sins." The Vicar of Llangurig preached in the evening of March 25th a sermon intended primarily for members of the Mothers' Union, but useful and applicable to all. LLANGURIG. A Lantern Entertainment, which secured a good gathering, was held at the Church House on Tuesday, March 20th, when, under the able manipulation of Mr. Lovell, we were treated to many varied views of North Wales, with its castles, abbeys, churches, lakes, rivers, and glens. The following three items of music were rendered:—The plaintive Rhuddlan March, the soul-stirring March of Harlech, and " God save the King." Miss Evans was accompanist. The lantern and slides were kindly provided by Mrs. Lloyd- Verney. The Sewing Party meets weekly at the Vicarage on Wednesdays, at 5 p.m. The meetings are well attended and much en¬ joyed. The Men's Club which assembled twice a week during the winter months, concluded its session with the close of March. On Sunday, March 25th, there was a Celebration of Holy Communion for members of the Mothers' Union. The Rev. Parker Jones, Llanidloes, conducted the evening prayer, and preached. The Service of Song will be taken Palm Sunday evening. We trust that all Church
