For further particulars see Bill. GENERAL. A General Committee, eon sir ting: of the Clergy and a Representative of each Choir of the Deanery, was held at Caerpws on Monday, July 20th. There was a very full attenrknce. Amongst the many details arranged, it was unanimously resolved that the Festival next year should consist of:—1. Choral Celebration of the Holy Communion ; 2 Evensong: ; and a Sub-Committee was appointed to select the music, and to submit such for final consideration at the next Meeting- of the General Committee The Sub-Committee met on Wednesday last, when the following selections were made :—1. Communion Service.—The adoption of either the Service as arranged in last year's Festival Book, with the ad¬ dition of Merbeckes' Creed and " Gloria in Exoelsis." or Dykes' Communion Service. Hvmns.—A selection from' 321, 311 (2nd tune), 316, 322, 319, 555. with the Nunc Dimittis at the close to chants Goodenongh minor and major. 2 Evensong —The Ferial Res¬ ponses as in last year's Festival Book Psalms.—The Psalms for Easter Evensong. 113 to chant Hayes in F (single) ; 114 to ohart set to Psalm 43 (pag-e 3> in last Festival Book; 118 v 1—4 to chant Monk in A ; 188. v. 5—14 to chant Parisian in E ; 118 v. 15 to end to chant, Js'ares in A, or 114 to chant as above: 115 w. 1—8 to chant Randall in D or E; w. 9 to end to chant Goldwin in A ; or the Psalms for Ascension Evensong, viz., 24, 47,„108, to chants to be arranged Hymns.A selection of four from 396 (1st tune) 233 (1st tune), 219, 477% 216, 378, 235, 31 Anthem, "The Lord reigneth," by Edwin A. Clare, published bv Xovello & Co Canticles —In view of the amount of Music to be learnt, the feeling was evenly divided as to the advisability of having chants or a { special setting ' to the ' Magnificat ' and 'Nunc Dimittis;' but a way out of the difficulty was found in the suggestion that one of the ' special settings ' already used in past years be adopted. Brown's setting in 1898 Service Book was suggested. It is hoped that the various choirs will consider these selections, and send their decision thereon, to¬ gether with anv other suggestions, through their representatives, or through the Secretary, for final consideration and adoption at the next General Com¬ mittee, which will be held probably in September, probably at Llanidloes. The chants above referred to are to be fonnd in the ' Cathedral Psalter,' and the hymns in ' Ancient and Modern.' W. L. RICHARDS, July 30th, 1903. Hon. Sec. LLANIDLOES. GARDEN PARTY AT MAENOL. On Wednesday. July 22nd. the beautiful y rounds of Maenol, .Llanidloes, the residence of Col. and Mrs. Lea Jones, were, for the second time, generously thrown open to the purpose of a Garden Party, having been used used in a similar way two vears ago in aid of the Church of England Waifs and Strays. Those who were privileged to be present on the first Occasion gladlv availed themselves of the second opportunity on Wednesday. Given a fine day, it was a safo prediction that the attendance would be quite satis¬ factory. Although the morning was gloomy and foreboded rain, happily the afternoon was bright and enticing, with the foregone result that a large crowd of patrons visited the pleasant scene at Maenol, were for many hours unrestricted pleasure h^ld sway, save a little anxiety as to the financial success of the undertaking. The proceeds were for the Vicarage fund, a rather vague description, and understood to mean the raising of money for meeting the expense of
