* jDjaprara Dg^pp n$Gpip « No. 124. Vol. XI. APRIL, 190e3. Price One Penny. LLANIDLOES. There will be Evening service on Monday, Tues¬ day and Wednesday in Holy Week at 7-30. On Good Friday the services will be :—Morning Service and Sermon at 10-30, the Three Hours* from twelve to three, evening service and short address at 7, when also Thos. Adam's Cantata " The Cross qf Christ " will be sung by the Choir. All the services on Good Friday will be taken by the Rev. J. Parry Morgan, Rector of Llandyssil, with whom the Vicar is exchanging for the day. There will be celebrations of Holy Communion on Easter Day at 8, 9, 10 (in Welsh), and mid-day. We need scarcely remind our readers that the church lays down in the prayer book the rule that all communicants should obey their Lord's command. ' Do this in remembrance of Me ' on the anniversary of His resurrection. The collections throughout the day on Easter Sunday will be given to the Vicar. We regret to record the death of Mr. Evan Powell which took place quite unexpectedly at St. Asaph on Saturday, March 7th. His remains were brought to Llanidloes to be buried, and were taken first to the Parish Church, where the service was chorally rendered, and thence to the Cemotery where the committal &c. was taken by his old friend Rev. J. Parry Morgan of Llandyssil, and the Masonic address recited by the Vicar. His life had been a strenuous one, and everything he did : he did with his might. If he had lived to realise the dream of his latter days, and reside at Penrallt, he would no doubt have done much for the town and church of Llanidloes. He was closely con¬ nected with the restoration of the Parish Church, and he had not long since expressed his intention of erecting the screen, designed by Sir Edmund Street, which was part of the original scheme of restoration but which was not carried out for want of funds. The following from Llanidloes were confirmed at Llandinam on March 25th :—Sarah Jane Brunt, Ellen Ann Morris, Mary Ann Morris and Elizabeth Lewis, with Matthew Henry Bennett, Edward Evans, William A. L. Hutchinson, Ernest David Jones, David Thomas Lewis, George Herbert Lewis, Thomas Gwilym Morris, Ernest Owen and Richard Ralph. The Bishop's address was strike- ingly simple and effective, and seemed to maks a deep impression on all who heard it. We sincerely trust it may bear future fruit in the hearts and lives of the candidates. Readers will be glad to hear that the Vicar has at last succeeded in finding a successor to Mr. Gower Jones, though unfortunatelv he will not be able to here till June. The Rev. R. Parker Jones, now Curate of Penmon with Llanfaes, is in full orders, and is most highly spoken of, and we are sure will be cordially welcomed. People are getting tired of having only the Vicar Sunday after Sundav- Vicarage Fund—Received with many thanks :— £ s. d. Previously acknowledged ... 189 17 9 Mr. Arthur Whittaker 10 0 0 Col.
