The confirmation service on April 6th, was held at 3 p.m., and was attended by one of the largest congregations we have ever seen in the Church, a large number of people having to stand throughout the service. The Bishop's address was given to the candidates only, and could not be heard by the mass of the people, a fact we think, to be regretted, as it was full of useful, fatherly advice. The following were confirmed :—Males •: Oswald Ben- bow, Edward Derry, Edward Griffiths, George Hopper, Edward Edwin Jones, Ernest Edward Jones, John Arthur Jones, T. Owen Mills, Henry Morgan, Stephen Morris, Edward Owen, Richard Owen, William Owen, John Pennington, and Charles Arthur Smith ; females—Ida Louisa Hutchinson, Nora Jenkins, Beatrice Jones, E. Susanah Jones, Margaret Jones, Charlotte E. Anne Morgan, Ethel Maud Morgan, Hannah Owen, Mary Eleanor Palmer, Elizabeth Thomas, Catherine Webb. We hope that they will all develope into earnest and regular communicants, and never for¬ get the solemn service in which they dedicated themselves afresh to God's service. Besides taking the confirmation service, the Bishop also celebrated at mid-day—when there was a very small gathering of communicants—and preached in the evening, so he had quite a hard day's work. He was apparently much pleased with his visit, and especially with the singing and with the admirable way in which Miss Marshall accompanied morning and evening. Perhaps it is the re-action from Easter and Con¬ firmation day, but for some cause or other the congregations on the last two Sundays in April, especially in the morning, have been extraor¬ dinarily poor, and the collections on both Sundays have fallen below 37/—a fact not to be parallelled, we believe, for many years. On the last Sunday in the month, there was no attendance at early service, another unusual occurrence now-a-daT s, we are glad to say. Altogether, the end of the month must have a verv black mark against it. The poor attendance on April 20th, was especially to be deplored as the work was done by the Vicar of Llangurig, and we like visitors to see us at our best-—for their sakes and our own. Thursday, May 8th, will be Ascension Day—one of the five great feast days of the Christian Year. The Vicar preaching last Sunday, spoke of it as the Coronation Day of King Jesus : whether that be so or not, loyal Churchpeople should make far
