It is with feelings of the deepest sorrow that we record the sudden and unexpected death of Mr. Daniel Davies of Dolenog He appeared to be in his usual health on Saturday, January 25th, and was out and about all day, but he bad a succession of strokes early on Sunday morning which terminated fatally before eiyrlit o'clock. It is less than six months since the death of Mrs. Davies, and universal sympathy is felt with Miss Davies and her orphaned brothers and young sister. Mr Davies had several times been Churchwarden, and he held that office at the time of his death. He leaves a gap in Church circles which will not easily be filled The funeral took place on "Wednesday at Dolhafren Cemetery. Mr. Davies having been a prominent member of the Masonic body, the brethren appeared in their Masonic clothing, and the address was delivered by Brother Eev E. 0, Jones. Lent is upon us once again. The Yicar has not arranged for any special services or extra sermons, as he expects every day to hear from the Bishop about Confirmation, which will mean three or four classes a week But there are services enough already, and sermons enough, perhaps too many of the latter, an excellent way of using Lent would be to attend more regularly, hear more attentively, and pray more earnestly, as the Curate urged on Sunday last. It is hoped we may be aVe to arrange for a pother's Union meeting early in L mt. MARRIAGES Jan. 13—William Ash worth and Fanny Hall. ,, 27—Evan Thomas Yaughan Chapman and Katherine Maud Maysmor. The miscellaneous entertainment in the Church House on New Year's Day Was from every respect of view an unqualified success. Great credit is due to all who contributed to such a fair performance. Tie acting, singing and drill exercise left nothing to be desired. It came as a pleasant surprise to th« crowded audience, who seemed to thoroughly enjcy the various performances Nor were the proceedings marred by any unseemly interruptions on the part of any present, where all did their part so nobly, it would be impossible to single one out for special praise. We thank them one and all, not forgetting the gallant band of ticket sellers who scoured the parish with such success. The following items com¬ prised the evening's iutellectual bill of fare :—Piano¬ forte duett, the Misses Pryse: song and chorus, Master James Pugh ; dumb-bell exercise, Miss M. Rowbotham and party; song and chorus, Mastej
