No. 109. Vol. X. JANUARY, 1902. Price One Penny. LLANIDLOES. A Happy New Year to all our Readers. The Rummage Sale was held on Wednesday* December 18th? and passed off successfully. A new- experiment was tried in the way of introducing a little music, and this seemed to prove an attraction. The attendanco was, we think, above the average. The following singers—for whose help we are very grateful—reudered songs at intervals, with Miss Marshall as accompanist. Messrs. M. H. Owen and W. E. Jones (duett), Miss Criss Kerr and Mr. Tom Phillips, while Mr. Maasey twice brought down the bouse with his " Comics." There was a large number of willing helpers too numerous to mention. We beg to thank the following—who kindly sent the contri¬ butions :—Mrs. Lea Jones, Mrs. Owen, Castle House, Mrs. Paull, Mr». D. A. Lewis, Mrs. Onslow, Mrs. Griffiths, Commerce House, Mrs. Jones, Vicarage, Mr. George Roberts, Mrs. Webb, Mrs. Sibbald, Miss Maysmor, Mr. Francis, Mr. J. H. Williams, Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Humphreys, Mrs- Davies, Bryndwr, Miss Jerman, .Newsfreet, Miss Davies, Dolenog, Mrs. Davies-Jen kins, Mrs. Kerr, Mrs. Davies, L. & P. Bank. Mrs. Davies kindly made tea an4 ga*e universal satisfaction. Christmas Day, though the atmospheric conditions were of the very worst, passed off very brightly in regard to matters ecclesiastical. We really do not know how many of those who were present managed to get to Church, for the roads were one un-broken sheet of ice, and we fear there were some nasty tnmbles. Still all the services were well attended, and the morning onee notably so, and over 140 com¬ municants greeted their New born King at His Altar. The number is, we believe, a record, the largest previous total that we can find being 139 in 1883, and 133 two or three years ago. The evening service was as usual of a very bright character, the new carols being extremely taking: needless to say, the choir did their work splendidly- We must thank the | Rowing decorators for braving the elements and giving their time at so busy a season to beautify God's House. Miss Marshall font; Miss Maysmor and the Misses Griffiths, Commerce House, North windows 5 Miss G. Powell, Penrallt, South windows ; Miss Davies, Bryndwr, lectern ; Misses Webb pulpit ; Misses Kerr Bast end ; Mrs. Jones, Vicarage, altar ▼ases. We have only been able to mention those who made themselves responsible for each part of the Church, but there were other helpers to whom we are not ungrateful. The following is the Diocesan Inspector's Report on the Mixed Schools, and it is followed by the names of those children whom he selected as deserving Certifi¬ cates. The Report is highly gratifying, and we must congratulate the School Staff on whom it reflects the greatest credit. " I congratulate staff and all concerned, on the marked improvement noticeable throughout the School. This year the whole of Diocesan Syllabus had been attempted, and with most commendable results. I hope that the present high standard of attainment will be maintained. This School passed on the whole an excellent examination." Group I.—E. M. Mills, T. H Jones, A. Morgan, T. S. Jones, D.
