LLANIDLOES, The first meeting of the newly elected Wardens was held at the Parish Church on Wednesday morning, June 26th, when there were present :—Mr. D. Kinsey, Mr. E. Powell, Mr. Dl. Davies, Mr H. D. Webb, and Mr J. Davies, clerk. In the unavoidable absence of the Vicar, Mr. Kinsey was voted to the .chair. The Quarterly Accounts were examined and passed, after which the Financial Statement for the past year which has just been issued, was considered. Mr. Powell, the newly elected Warden, expressed his satisfaction at finding the financial affairs of the •Church in such a healthy condition, but was disap¬ pointed to find so few Church-people contributing towards the Curate's Fund; he therefore proposed that subject to the approval of the Vicar, the usual circulars soliciting subscriptions to this Fund should be sent out not late; than the 1st of September, and that Miss Kerr, Summerfield, Miss Maysmor, Bryn- llys, Miss Davies, Dolenog, and Miss Davies. School House, be asked to undertake the collecting of the same. This was unanimously agreed to, with the hope that all Church-going-people in the parish would make every effort to contribute to this most deserving fund. The question of the best method of repairing the paths in the Churchyard was discussed, and it was decided that concrete should be used. Mr. Powell kindly volunteered to obtain an estimate of the probable cost at a-n early date so that the work might be proceeded with. The Clerk was directed to get the ivy growing on the Church walls trimmed and the grass in the Churchyard cut; it was also decided to repair the roof of the Church. A curious misprint occured in our last number, the word " luxuries " being spelled 'luxeries.' A more curious fact still is that this has been taken to be an intentional insult to one of our readers : why we can¬ not tell as we know of no one who spells in so eccentric a fashion- However, this makes it necessary to say that the mis-spelling was a misprint pure and simple, as the original M.S.—which the printer had fortunately retained—is sufficient to prove. The following list is somewhat belated as it has been held over several months for want of space. However, "better late than never," and as it is well to have all such lists made oublic, we now give the names of those who contributed to the Choir Testi¬ monial to the Rev. W. D. Roberts : — £ s d. The list is not printed as I intended, but it is quite clear enough for all practical purposes, and I am afraid of tampering with the proof as I ara absent from home. The main column gives the donations, and the sums in brackets are subscriptions promised instead of or in some cases in addition to donations. There are a good many circulars still un-returned, and I hope the publication of the list will bring some more in- E.O.J. £ s. d. (£.5 for o years)... (£3 for 5 years)... pd. (Is. for 5 years)...
