TOYSTLI Dg£l}EJ{¥ IlWZII}E. « No. 82. Vol. VII. OCTOBER, 1899. Price One Penny. LLANIDLOES. This has been a month of Harvest Festivals and we imagine it must be many years since Arwystli Deanery has seen all its parishes keep their festival before the end of September. But this fact produces a pressure on our space which demands brevity in the accounts. On the whole ours was a great success and the congre¬ gations throughout were above the average. Curiously enough both preachers were natives of the parish, arid this had its effect—notably in the English evening service when the Church was crowded to its utmost capacity. Notwithstanding the fact that several of our usual decorators were prevented from giving their services by illness or other unavoidable causes, the church locked as well as ever and we wish to thank the ladies who rose so well to the occasion and did extra work with little or no notice. The Chancel looked unusually beautiful owing to the skilful work of Mr* J. H. Williams, Mrs Jones, The Vicarage, and Miss Roberts, and a lovely cross of lilies and dahlias sent by Mrs. J D. Davies greatly added to the effect. The pulpit was decorated by Miss "Webb, the lectern by Miss Davies, Bryndwr, Choir Stalls & Altar Eails by Miss Agnes Kerr and Miss Wilson, the Font by Miss Marshall, who also with Miss Webb, undertook the South Windows, while the North Windows were decorated by Miss Lily Webb and Miss Griffiths, Ccmmerce House. The " Baskets," were more numerous than of late years. The names of the donors are unavoidably held over. The following are the collections for the September during the past twenty years :— £ s. d. 7 4 5 10 6 1 8 19 11 9 11 2 7 10 6 9 16 0 6 4 7 1881 82 83 84 85 86 87 88 89 90 91 92 93 94 11 11 8 5 10 12 10 19 8 16 0 average av av av ay av av av av av av av av av month o^ £ s. d. 1 16 1 2 11 6 2 5 0 2 7 10 2 10 2 9 2 1 2 13 4 11 5 10 6 11 3 10 4 0 96 4 10 17 6 97 4 9 18 3 98 4 10 14 6 99 4 11 7 1 av av av av 1880-99 77 182 3 9 average SUNDAY SCHOOL TRIP.
