Chapter was held at Llanidloes on Friday, October 28th, when the following Clergy were pre¬ sent :—Revs. M. Jones, R. D., Viear of Llandinam, E. Edwardes, Vicar of Trefeglwys, T. E. Jones, Vicar of Carno, E. O. Jones, Vicar of Llanidloes, T. H. Hughes, Vicar of Llangurig, W. L. Richards, Rector of Penstrowed, 0. K. Williams, Caersws, D. Green, Llanwnog, and W. D. Roberts, Llanidloes. A letter of apology for absence was recived from Rev. D. Parry, Vicar of Llanwnog. Holy Communion was celebrated in the Parish Church, at 11 o'clock, the Celebrant being the Rev. E. O. Jones, assisted by Rev. W. D. Roberts. Prayers having been said by the R.D., the minutes of the former meeting were read and confirmed. A letter from D. R. Lloyd, Esq., The Palace, Bangor, in answer to the vote of condolence was read. The passage of scripture for considera¬ tion was i Cor. xv 29-38, which was expounded by Rev. E. O. Jones,, and a general discussion followed. It was decided to hold the Choral Festival of the Deanery, next year at Llandinam, May 17th, being provisionally fixed as the date. W. DAVID ROBERTS, Chapter Clerk. SUNDAY SCHOOL ASSOCIATION. On Friday afternoon, October 28th, a meeting of the Church Sunday School Association was held at the National Schools, Llanidloes, the Rural Dean pre¬ siding. The Clergy of the Deanery, with one or two exceptions were present, and there were teachers present from nearly every Sunday School, notwith¬ standing the inclemency of the weather. The meeting opened with singing and prayer and the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The Secretary then read, his report of the Examina¬ tion of the different schools which was very creditable to both teachers and scholars. Mr. R. M. Duvies, Llanidloes then read a paper on the qualifications of a Sunday school teacher which was much appreciated and which will we trust appear in a future number of the magazine. The Rev. T. E. Jones, Vicar of Carno read a paper on " How to re¬ tain the older scholars in our Sunday schools." Both papers were afterwards discussed, and arrangements made for the next meeting to be held at Caersws, in February next, when a paper will be read by the Vicar of Llanidloes. Tea was provided in the Infant School over which Mies Marshall presided, and a very pleasant and instructive gathering was brought to a close. Below is a brief outline of the Examiner's report with the names of the teachers :— Carno School—A well-taught school a credit to the teachers and scholars. Repetition good, and answering general and satisfactory ; Teachers, Miss Astley, Mrs. Jones, Vicarage, Rev. T. E. Jones, Miss S. E. Gittins, Messrs. Richd. Humphreys, and Moses Jones. Llandinam—A small school and carefully taught, repetition satisfactorily, & answering fairly good ; Teachers Mrs. Morgan Jones, Miss Evans, and Mr. Morgan. Trefeglwys—Bears evidence of good teaching,repetition excellent; Teachers, The Vicar, Mrs. Edwardes, Miss Mary Ed wards, 4flfl| BBMHMk Liang wig—A well-taught school ; teachers deserves great credit for the work done ; Teachers The Vicar, Mrs. Hughes, Mr. T. D. Jones, Misses Charlton, Lloyd-Verney, Sarah Ellen Davies. Caersws—The answering intelligent and general, and repetition good; Teachers, Misses Morgan, Price, Rogers, Owen, Hammond, and Mr. Rogers. The Llanidloes School was examined by the Rev. T. H. Hughes, Vicar of Llangurig, who reported that this was a good school, the repetition was good, but answering among the older scholars was not general. LLANIDLOES. The winter work is by now in full swing and there is plenty to do for those who do not care to spend all their evenings at home. On Mondays the children have their Band of .Hope meeting at six. This class is under the superintendence of Mr. Swinburne and we expect it to be a great suc¬ cess, as promises of visits etc., have been given by several interested in the matter. Monday is also the day of meeting for the Church Literary Society. In order to make a start and try and attract some men who had not previously attend¬ ed, a concert was announced for Friday evening, October 28th. Unfortunately the weather was about as bad as it possibly could be and there were only about thirty men present, but an enjoyable programme was gone through and those who did attend were well rewarded.
