The Church Schools Trip to Aberystwyth will take place this year, we understand, on Monday, August 15th, and we hope that Miss Marshall who has most kindly undertaken once more the not always pleasant task of collecting the necessary funds may meet with nothing but open hands and warm hearts on her rounds. The choir trip will probably take place on Thursday in the same week, Shrewsbury show having a quite magnetic attraction for our Llanidloes vocalists. Thanks to Miss Maysmor's energy and kindness the funds for this trip has been already secured and we append a list of the subscribers ;—~ Vicar Mr, David Kinsey „ Robert Hughes Miss Ellen Davies Mr. A. Congratulations to the Vicar on carrying off the prize for translating from Welsh to English at the National Eisteddfod this year. It will be remem¬ bered that last year the prize was divided between him and Mrs. Walter Thomas (Morfudd Eryri) wife of the Vicar of Holyhead. We see from the list of subjects etc., for the next year's National, that the Vicar is to adjudicate at Cardiff with Prof. Young Evans on both of the verse translations. Those who were in Church on Sunday morning, July 31st, had a rare musical treat provided for them quite unexpectedly. Mr. Blackney, who is the Bass soloist in the choir of St, Albans, Holborn was in Llan¬ idloes and volunteered to sing a solo, and he gave a rendering of " It is enough " from Elijah which will not soon be forgotten by those who heard it. Voice, phrasing and expression were all alike, perfect and the piano passages were given with exquisite delicacy and feeling, yet as clearly as the louder ones.
