A meeting of the above was held at the Vicarage, Llanidloes, on Wednesday, September 8th, the Rev. Morgan Jones, R.D., presiding. Prayers having been said by the Rural Dean, the Minutes of the previous meeting were read and con¬ firmed Letters of apology for absence had been received from the following : —Revs. W. Richards, R.D., Cemmes, T. B. Jones, Carno, D. Parry, Llanwnog, W L. Richards, Penstrowed, R. Richards, Darowen* E. T. Evans, Llanwrin, J. Jenkins, Llanymawddwy, Canon Trevor, and D. T. The Rural Dean read a letter he had received from the Rev. T. E. Jones of Garno, tendering his resigna¬ tion of the Secretaryship which he had held for over ten years. Several of the clergy having testified to the admirable way in which Mr. Jones had fulfilled the duties of the office the Rural Dean proposed and the Rev. E. Edwardes seconded that the resignation be accepted with regret. Upon the question of appointing a new Secretary, the Rev. E. 0 Jones proposed, " that as the Arwystli Members present who form an absdlute1'majority of the Deanery are determinedtosever their connection with Cyfeiliog, no steps be taken to "appoint a secretary for *he joint Meeting but that the Rev. 0. K. Williams oe asked to act pro tern and' summon the"next two Meetings." This was ^seconded by' the Rev. E. •Edwardes, and carried unanimously. V; LLANIDLOES. The Harvest Festival Services were held on Thurs¬ day and Friday, September 23rd aud 24th, the Welsh service contrary to the usual custom being held the day after the English services instead of the day before. This arrangement was made necessary this year in consequence of the Diocesan Conference being held on Wednesday the 22nd. En passant we may say that the Dolgelley Conference was one of the most successful and inspiring meetings we have ever been privileged to attend, the quality of the papers and speeches, especially the Welsh ones being greatly superior to the general average of papers and speeches usually heard at such meetings. We were also glad to see that the Bishop of the Diocese had so far recovered his health as to be able to preside on the occasion. When may we hope to have the Conference at Llanidloes ? One of the chief benefits of the C on- ference as at present carried on is the influence and encouragement it gives to Church work at the places where it is held, and it is snrely time that Llanidloes though it is situated (may we not say because it is situated) at the extreme end of the diocese should have the benefit of such encouragement. But to return to the Harvest Festival, the services as usual consisted of the Celebration of Holy Communion at 8^30, when there was a fair attendance—though far from being what it should be. At 11 o'clock Matins were said, and the Rev. H. J. Church Jones, Brecon, preached an excellent sermon on Psalm cxvi. 12. The musical portion of the service was well rendered, Hopkin's Te Deum in G., and Elvey's anthem -* 0 Give thanks," being exceptionally well sung. At Evensong,' the sermon was preached by the Rev. D. Richards,"Vicar of Festiniog. Having had the pleasure of listening to Mr. Richards before we were looking forward to something good and were not disappointed. Me took for his text, Genesis viii. 22. and preached
