The Rev. Wm Richards, R.D , presiding. Prayers having been said by the Rural Dean, the minutes of the previous meeting were read and con¬ firmed. Letters of apology for absence had been received from the Revs. J. Jenkins, E. Eclwardes, D. Parry, E. Edwards, W. D. Roberts, E. 0. Jones, W. R. "Williams, and Morgan Jones, R.D. The clergy present were:—Revs. Wm. Richards, R.D, Canon Trevor, W. L. Richards, R. Richards, J. Williams, D. A. Jones, 0. K. Williams, D. T. Hughes, and T. Evan Jonee, Hon. Sec. The 3rd eubject on the agenda—the "9th Kule"— was first taken in hand in order to complete the " Rules." This "Rule" was finally corrected and adopted. The 2nd subject, namely, a paper on the " Arch¬ bishops' Encyclical Letter " by Canon Trevor was then proceeded with. The Rev Canon read an admirable paper on a most interesting subject. At the end of his paper the Canon proposed the following resolution which was unanimously agreed to :—"At a meeting of the Clergy of the Deaneries of Arwystli and Cyfeiliog, in the Diocese of Bangor, held at Cemmaes on Thursday, June 10th, 1897, the Rev. Wm. Richards R.D., presiding. It was unanimously resolved that we, the Clergy, bear to offer our deep gratitude to the Archbishops of Canterbury and York for their vindication of the validity of Anglican Orders and their defence of the position of the Church of England as a true branch of the Catholic and Apostolic Church, as set forth in their answer, addressed to the whole body of Bishops of the Catholic Church, to the Apostolic Letter of Pope Leo xiii., and that a copy of such resolution signed by the Rural Dean be sent to the Archbishops of Canterbury and York respectively,." T. EVAN JONES, Hon. See. LLANIDLOES. The Diamond Jubilee has come and gone, and we can honestly say that in few places could it have been celebrated more heartily than in Llanidloes. Such full accounts have been published in the local papers that we need only place on record here such of the proceed¬ ings as centred round the Parish Church. The clanging of the Church bells early in the morning warned all and sundry that the long-looked for day had dawned, and about 10-30, the Mayor and Corpor¬ ation met the Parish Council at the Town Hall and marched to Church, preceded by the Band and accompanied by the Yeomanry and Volunteers, the Oddfellows and Foresters, and many of the general public. Special forms of service had been printed, containing the hymns, responses, psalms, and Te Deum so that all were enabled to join heartily and with ease and the singing—especially of the Old Hundredth and the National Anthem—was something to be remembered. The sec >nd verse of " God save the Queen" was taken first as a solo and then repeated in chorus, the solo being entrusted to Mrs. H. Roberts, who, needless to say, did her part admirably. The Vicar preached from Psalm CXXI, 2, and the collec¬ tion realized £5 2s. 6d. for the District Nurse's Fund. Miss Marshall presided at the Organ. The date originally fixed for the Vicarage Garden Sale of Work falls so very near the Jubilee that it has been thought wiser to defer it for a few weeks as a good many people felt they really could not settle down to work for it until the Queen's Day was over. It will probably take place on Wednesday, August 4th, but of course further notice will be given. Meanwhile we hope many contributions will flow in during July. Received at the Rummage Sale Depot parcels from Mrs. Edmund Jones, and Mrs. Kinsey, Brynllys, and Miss Marshall. Thanks much. We congratulate the Rev. W. D. Roberts, on his proceeding to the degree of M.A. Evensong. 574 184 2? 229 196 18( 530 221 2( 427 231 43) HYMNS 1 FOR JD Matins. 3rd Sun. aft Trin. ... 282 322 109 4th ■»■> 222 296 5th >> 21.8 170 273 6th ,, ... 418 240 259
