Rarely has our Harvest Festival passed off more successfully than it did this year. The Church looked better than ever, the singing was up to the high water tQark of the Llanidloes choir, the sermons eloquent ^nd striking, the congregations good throughout, and J&st but perhaps not least we had the one perfectly fine day in eight or nine weeks of almost unbroken ^ain. The English preachers were as announced in °nr last number, and ohe sermon at the Welsh service was preached by the Rev. D. Andrew Jones, Rector W Llanbrynmair. We were glad to see a considerably larger number of worshippers at the early celebration, but we still fall far short of what we ought to be in this respect. The congregation at mid-day was also larger than last year, but as usual the crush was reserved for the evening service, when the church was literally packed, a very large number having to stand, although additional chairs had been brought *&• Archdeacon Howell held the congregation spell¬ bound while he enlarged on Christ's new command¬ ant of love, The decorators who had done their part even better than usual were as follows :—Font, Miss Marshall and Mr. J. Kerr; West window, Rev. W. D. Roberts; North windows, Miss Maysmore and Miss Lilly Davies; South Windows, The Misses Lloyd Kinsey and Miss Rita Hughes ; Pulpit, Miss Ikin ; Lectern, Miss Lilly and Ida Webb ; Altar rails, Miss Louie and Ida Paul!; East end, Mr. Williams assisted by Miss Agnes Kerr and Mrs. Edmund Jones. There was more interchange of help than usual, but these were the leaders at each centre. The decoration at the East end was a new departure, the dossal being taken down and a temporary reredos ereeted. Mr. Williams also decorated the pillars which greatly improved the general effect. Offerings of fruit, flowers, bread, etc., were received from the following:—Miss Ethel Vaughan-Owen, Mrs. Daniel Davies, Mr. and Mrs Kinsey, Brynllys, Master Charlie & Glyn Marshall, Mrs. Geo.
