The annual picnic of the Band of Hope took place t'hia year on Friday the 21st of August. Unfavourable Weather necessitated a slight deviation from the °rdinary routine. Tea with its attendant solids, of which the Superintendent profiting by last year's experience, had provided' sufficient quantities, was Partaken of in the JSational Schools, . Mrs. Hamer, * he School House, very kindly supplying the hot water. After tea, the members over 70 in number, Starched in procession to Maenol and through the grounds to a field adjoining, where games were lr'dulged in, and races run to everybody's content. At the approach of dewy eve farther refreshments were distributed, and after heartily singing " Qod save the Queen " and "The Land of my Fathers" everybody returned home rejoicing in a packet of ^eets. Our best thanks are due to Mrs. Brown, Dresden House, for lending the necessary crockery, ■aild to a willing band of assistants too numerous to Mention, The annual trip in connection with the Church Sunday and National Schools took place on Monday, August 17th, when ^e were favoured with excellent weather. A very large dumber of people booked to Aberystwyth and enjoyed them- ^elves immensely ; the new Electric Railway up Constitution r^ill coming in for a fair amount of attention. Rain fell late *11 the evening, but not enough to damp the spirits of ■Uarridloes folk. The arrangements were excellently carried out by Messrs. John Davies (Superintendent), E. D. Davies (Treasurer of the Sunday School). This match was played on Friday, August 28th, on the Town ground, and resulted in a drawn game, in whose favour it would take a very expert judge of probabilities to decide.
