All communica¬ tions should be addressed to " The Librarian, Central Library, Cardiff." * * # * Christmas Holidays. All Departments of the Libraries will be closed on Christmas Day. All Departments except the General Reading Room at the Central Library will be closed on Monday, December 27th. The Children's Halls at Cathays and Canton will also be closed on Friday, December 24th. * * * * "The Heart of the Antarctic." The two copies of Sir Ernest Shackleton's book in the Central Lending Libary have been in great demand, and are bespoken weeks ahead. * * * # "Trans-Himalaya." Dr. Sven Hedin's new book (K1771) de¬ scribing his most recent discoveries and ad¬ ventures in Tibet, is now available, and is likely to be in almost as great request. It can be bespoken in the usual way. * * # # Current Welsh Literature. Commencing with the January issue, the recent additions to the Welsh Department will be printed monthly. This will form a useful record of current Welsh literature. Lectures. Arrangements for the lectures, to be de¬ livered in the Branch Libraries from January to March, 1910, are almost completed, and the list will be published early in January. " The Land of the Midnight Sun " (Norway). Mr. R. Edwards James— " Orators and Oratory." Mr. R. Hedger Wallace— " The Land of Milk and Cheese " (Holland). Dr. Erie Evans— " The Action of Alcohol."
