N our former paper on this subject we expressed our decided disapproval of the room-experiments which are sometimes made for the purpose of forming English Churches in connection with our denomination, and which generally prove most miserable failures. They arfe often proposed and made, as we confessed, with the best intentions, but under the circumstances of indifference or of fear on the part of some, of partiality for Welsh on the part of others, of there being no responsibility of a chapel on the part of all, they can scarcely be expected to succeed. Our conviction on this point is strong : room-experiments for the formation of English churches are not to be desired in districts where there are already Welsh churches, unless, at the same time as the room services are com¬ menced to be held, or before, a chapel be commenced to be erected. The mere promise of a chapel in the future, should the room ser¬ vices succeed, will not avail much. There is one other course of attempting the formation of English churches pursued, which we equally disapprove of: it is, the one- service-experiment in our Welsh chapels. This experiment is sometimes carried on at a most inconvenient time. We know one place where it was held immediately after School in the afternoon, at half-past three o'clock; and our readers may try to imagine in what spirit those were for the service who had been in the excitement of the class from half-past one until half-past three.
