The Honorary Canonry of Saint Cross in Llandaff Cathedral, vacant through the death of the late Rev. Canon Evans, of Rhymney, has been offered by the Bishop of Llandaff to the Rev. R. Valpy French, D.C.L., Rector of Llanmartin with Wilcrick, near Newport, Mon., by whom it has been accepted. At a special service held at the Palace Chapel, Llandaff, on Wednesday morn¬ ing, June 20th, the Lord Bishop of Llandaff, collated the Rev. Richard William Evans, to the Vicarage of St. Andrew's, Llwynypia, and also collated the Rev. David Jesse Evans to the Rectory of Henllis with Bettws, near Newport, Mon. The Bishop also licensed the following Curates—William Edward Boys, B.A., to St. Mary the Virgin, Cardiff; William Charnell to Llangattock-vibon- Avel with St. Maughan's and Llan- faenor; James Evans Uavies, B.A., to Whitchurch, near Cardiff; Robert Henry Holmes, Lie. Th., to Holy Trinity, Pillgwenlly; John Gower Jones, B.A., to St. Woolos', Newport, Mon.; Joshua Jones, to Neath with Llantwit; Peter Jones, Lie. Div., to St. Andrew's, Llwynypia; and Thomas John Richards, B.A., to St. John, Canton, Cardiff. At a special service held at the Palace Chapel, Llandaff, on Saturday morning, June 30th, the Lord Bishop of Llandaff licensed the Rev.
