He was a soldier in the fighte of Boswoorthe, and he lived at Lantwit Magor, and he lived much by fishing. John Sherrye and Margaret Portrey, married a Tuesday, viz., xxviii Februarii, Anno Dom. 1586, and domi nore Regine Eliza- bethe vicesimo nono. A license from the Chancellor. John Sherrye was buried the vii daye of December, Anno Dom., 1624, aged 102. In another place he is registered in Latin: Johannes Sherry Sepultus fuit Septimo, die Decembris, Anno Dom., aetat circa 104. Thomas Watkins died a.d. 1628, 100 years old. » In the year 1668, Elizabeth Yorath, daughter of loan Yorath, and wife of Thomas Williams, Rector of Llanmaes, died, aged 177. Cecil, wife of Peter Meare, of Lantwit Magor, died December 20th, 1757, aged 107. April 8th, at Lantwit Magor, 1771, Peter Meare, aged 103. In the year 1760, Ann Richman, of Penmark, died, aged 123 vears. Kate Butler died, 1769, aged 106. Thomas French, of Wenvoe, died, 1790, upwards of 100 years of age. He worked at his trade, a watchmaker, in the last year of his life. August 8th, 1782, John Roberts, blacksmith, of Llantrithyd, aged 118 years. 1531, Mathew Voss died, at Lantwit Magor, aged 129. On the 24th of Feb., 1668, William Edwards, of Caerau, died, aged 168 years. a.d. 1615, Thomas ap loan ap Rhys, a bard, and at one time a monk of Margam, died, aged 140 years. a.d. 1799, Elizabeth Davies, of the Wheaten Sheaf, Swansea, died. She remembered the revolution of 1688 well. a.d. 1698, March 6th, Walter John, of Baglan, died, aged 96. May, 1724, Cecil, his wife, died, aged 99. In the churchyard of St. Andrew's, there is a tombstone on Margaret Mathews, who died at the age of 124, her husband being 99. The inscription is now nearly obliterated. Giraldus.
