About 3 years ago Clayton presented some writ for a bond debt to the Crown but for the benefit of Clayton, and Clayton and his agents have ever since been in possession of plaintiff's lands, &c., in the parishes of Llansantfraed in Elvel and Bettus dyserth in co. Radnor. He believes Clayton to be in possession also of the lands, &c., of Thomas Williams and has been so for 3 years before the above mentioned. De- ponent's son was tenant of plaintiff's estate at £ 26 per annum under a written agreement and he continued tenant under Clayton. Since Clayton took over the lands, they have been neglected to be cultivated 'according to ye common course of husbandry' and the buildings, &c., are out of repair. £ 40 would be required to put the fences and houses in tenantable repair. The debt of Thomas Jones to Clayton was 4 score pounds' and de- ponent went bail bond for Thomas Jones when the latter was arrested for debt. Clayton 'exclaimed against co. Radnor' and said that Bowen, Lloyd, and Thomas Williams as his sureties owed him some money Clayton declared in deponent's hearing that Evan Bowen had paid £ 200 on his account into the Bank of England and brought him a Bank receipt.
