XLhc IRaonorsbire Society transactions. VOL XVI. DECEMBER 1946. SIXTEENTH ANNUAL REPORT. 1. The Society has not yet been able to resume its full activities. It is hoped however that some meetings can be arranged during the coming year. The advent of the Training College to Llandrindod Wells has already provided one lecture by Professor Treherne, of Aberystwyth, to which members of the Society were invited. 2. The return of Mr. E. J. Cole from the Services is evidenced by his contribution to this volume and we are again indebted to Mr. W. H. Howse for his assistance. 3. The number of members is stationary. We have lost thirteen members during the year but these have been replaced by new members. 4. Our obituary list is the longest in our history. (a) The sudden death of the Rev. D. Stedman Davies is an irreparable loss. His enthusiasm for archaeology was a great assistance in founding the Society. Sixteen years ago he became one of the rfrst joint secretaries. Owing to his great age and failing health he resigned two years ago but his interest in our work never flagged. Further reference is made in this volume to his work. (b) Mr. David Davies, of Chandos, Knighton, was a mem- ber from the beginning. During his official life he had had great opportunities of knowing some parts of the county very thoroughly. He was always helpful when enquiries in that area were made.
