Abbeycwmhir. The special lecture meeting devoted to Abbey Cwmhir took place on Saturday, September 20th, and proved a great success. We were joined on this occasion by a party from the Powysland Club. In the afternoon Professor E. G. Bowen delivered a stimulating lecture on the Cistercian Order in Europe generally, and in Wales in particular, in the course of which he threw out many challenging ideas on European economic organisation then and now. After tea there followed a visit to the site, where Mr. Onfel Thomas and the Reverend David H. Williams (author of "The Welsh Cistercians") spoke on aspects of the foundation and history of the Abbey. Edward Davies. On Tuesday, September 6th, a commemorative plaque in honour of the Rev. Edward Davies, the Celtic scholar and antiquary, was dedicated at Llanfaredd Church by the Lord Bishop of Swansea and Brecon, the Right Reverend J. J. A. Thomas, D.D. The address was delivered by the Dean of Brecon, the Very Reverend W. Ungoed Jacob, M.A., who paid eloquent tribute to the work and achieve- ments of Edward Davies. The service was conducted by the Rector of Llanelwedd, the Rev. D. E. P. Wilkinson. The first part of a study of the life and work of Edward Davies, by Dr. Frank Lewis, appears in this volume. Ten Twenty Thirty. In March the Society was approached by B.B.C. (Wales) in connection with the production of the Radnorshire programme in its TV series entitled "Ten Twenty Thirty The recording took place at the Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells on April 2nd and the programme was televised on April 24th and 25th. The Radnorshire team, which consisted of Alderman E. Kinsey Morgan, Mr. Frank Noble, Miss J. Williams (student) and Miss Caroline Owens (a pupil attending Llandrindod Wells Grammar School), was narrowly defeated by the visitors, led by Dr. T. I. Ellis. Other Organisations. Reference has already been made to the joint meeting with members of the Powysland Club on the occasion of the Abbey Cwmhir meeting. We understand that it is the intention of the Powysland Club to invite members of our Society to join them at one of their meetings next year. In January of this year the Society repaired a long-standing omission by joining the Cambrian Archaeological Association as an institutional member. The decision has also been taken to join the Offa's Dyke Associa- tion, and the Society has entered into full membership of that body. Publications. The annual volume of Transactions was distributed to members on April 8th, 350 copies being printed, of which number 22 remain. The Committee has decided to print 400 copies of the 1969 Volume. Sales of our publications have continued at a steady rate and in the course of the year the sum of £ 33/2/9 has accrued from this source. A special word of thanks is owed to our contributors for the valuable work that they accomplish. Proposed Demolitions.
